Platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM) is the next generation of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). Similar to PRP, Platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM) uses a controlled separation process that removes almost all contaminants to create a pure platelet solution. PRP can also be accomplished with the use of YOUNG-PLASMA. PRFM takes this pure solution to the next level by forming a gel-like substance that protects and preserves platelets for injection. This optimal solution keeps: inflammation to a minimum, patient comfort in mind and a sustained growth factor release at the injection site.
Growth factors are protein molecules found naturally in your body and released by the platelets in your blood. With hundreds of different types in existence, each help in varying ways including regulating cell growth, preventing cell death, and increasing circulation. Among the benefits of growth factors is their ability to act as chemical messengers, communicating with cells to simulate growth and repair.
The number of PRFM treatments that are needed depends on each individual patient’s desired outcome and the physician’s treatment plan. There have been no known side effects reported to date. However, as with any injectable procedure, some patients may experience mild and temporary irritation, swelling, bruising, itching, discoloration or tenderness at the injection site.
